The Intellectual Property Manager will execute the organization’s intellectual property (IP) strategy and manage the organization’s IP portfolio. This individual will also partner with project management and engineers to identify, document, assess, and protect company IP.


  • Prepare invention reports including prior art summaries and technical descriptions distilled from lab notes, design notes, sketches, photographs, and existing technical reports or project status reports.
  • Conduct prior art research including web, patent, and literature searches in order to assess invention novelty.
  • Work with outside legal counsel to prepare and prosecute patent and trademark applications, including transforming invention reports into full patent applications, complete with necessary figures and diagrams.
  • Record and track newly conceived inventions and patent and trademark filing and prosecution data in an intellectual property database.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • BA/BS in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).
  • Advanced Degree MA and/or JD preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in an IP related role.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills, with 2+ years of experience in technical writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively engage and dialogue with technical and non-technical professionals on a diverse set of ideas, systems, and processes.
  • Resourcefulness and creativity in research methodology, including a demonstrated ability to perform quick turnaround research using databases and the Internet.
